May 27th, 2008 by Jimmy
When travelling, it’s easy to forget, amongst all the organizing and planning that you have to do, the one thing that that you really, really need to remember! That’s travel insurance. Travel insurance is one of those things that you may think you can get by without, until you are stranded with a medical issue or you have lost a valuable piece of electronics like a camera or iPhone. I’ve done that before, and it’s really not fun.

Trave insurance has never been easier to obtain – and you can even get it in the middle of the night, no need to stick to regular working hours. In the end, how much is peace of mind really worth?
Get your travel insurance sorted out today with Travel Insurance Direct, so you can jump on that plane with full confidence that you have every base covered.. all you need to do is focus on enjoying your trip!
I agree that traveler’s insurance is important if your own health insurance will not cover you when you are away.
Travel insurance is a really good idea anytime you buy an expensive travel package, especially if there are a few travelers involved. Something always happens, no matter how hard you try to prepare…
is travel insurance is important?thanks for the info..i’ll catch this in my mind everytime i travelling
Sometimes we need to travelling..many choice to get the travelling..
I can vouche for travel insurance first hand. Most times you can get it for $50-100 a person. If your spending thousands of dollars for a vacation what is another $50. Well worth it. You never know what might happen.
I made only good experiences with travel insurances in the past even though it comes not free of charge. Things are unpredictable.
Hi,
Great and helpfull post about insurance indeed.
Keep up the good work,
Regards
Edwin
I travel frequently and i always buy travel insurance, it usually dosent cost much and its well worth it for the piece of mind that it provides.
I don’t know why but I don’t trust online insurance! Anytime a travel in a foreign country I make insurance at my local travel office…
do you have good experiance with online insurance?!
Here in UK i stumbled across these guys who helped me pretty quickly and efficiently when i was told by my travel agent that i needed insurance at the last minute too…HIGHLY RECOMMENDED too…
I usually purchase travel insurance when I go out of country. I’ve never had to use it, but the peace of mind is worth it. I suppose you’d probably end up wealthier without travel insurance in the long run (expected value), but it protects against expensive disasters.
Insurance is a very important part to our everyday life, especially when the insurance companies offer the large variety of insurance: travel, life….
In Armenia, insurance is a new sphere and field, but You can see more accomplishment in the different sphere.
Your posted article is very important for travelers, for discover their opportunities during different travels!!!
I guess it all depends on what the insurance covers, medical expeneses for sure would be worth it but then again it all depends on where you are traveling to. Most places can be pretty cheap to get health care to begin with but depnds on the situation. All options should be looked at.
Always take travel insurance – it is one of the few forms of insurance that I think is good value. It is worth it for the peace of mind, who knows what can happen while u’re away on vacation?
Nice piece of information there, I might consider getting this Travel Insurance for me and family. Thanks for the info mate!
Travel insurance really helps in the event someone in the group gets ill and is unavble to travel. In my opinion travel insurance is a must.
I’m a brit living in australia and am considering whether or not to get travel insurance when returning home to England. I’ll have a look at Travel Insurance Direct and see what the prices are.. Thanks!
I think going anywhere international and its a must to buy travel insurance I never both inside the EU, but it does cover you for loss / theft etc so I should really
its not worth taking the risk without insurance. If you are going on holiday its best to get some so you can relax and not worry if something goes wrong.
Yes, travel insurance is something really important. I remember once I lost my baggage at Tokyo airport when i traveled there on vacation. Had to face a lot of hassles since I didnot have my insurance. I would suggest everyone get an insurance, as there a lot of things can happen which you cannot predict.
I always remind people to take out insurance. I rent out vacation apartments in Amsterdam.
As an addition to the travel insurance, always be mindful of cancellation terms. And if you are travelling in a group, make sure everyone takes out insurance. And that everyone is committed to bear their share of the costs.
If for example you start out with a group of 6 people; and 2 people cancel, the costs for an apartment rental for the remaining 4 persons may go up 50%. This can cause stress in your group of friends, so just take out an insurance and you have a worry less.
Thanks for the information, but do you have to be Australian to qualify for Travel Insurance Direct?
I’m in the US, and I’d like to find a recommendation for travel insurance here. Do you know if Travel Guard is any good?
Thanks!
Travel insurance is essential and should always be purchased
I always suggest to take a travel insurance to my customers who book apartments in rome
nice. travel insurance is really helpful. since an airline missed my luggage somehow.
ur article is very helpful. point it!
i think travel insurance is very helpful. so, if there something bad happen at somewhere that you don’t realy familiar with you still have someone to help you find way out.
well.. the last time i went Paris to rent a car, i was thinking about this insurance issue.. end up… signing up for it anyway… because the cost of not signing up the insurance is just too great…
I am funny like that I don’t really like to travel anywhere without the right insurance in place
travel Insurance is a must especially for individual traveller. It protects you as well as your personal belonging. There are alot of Online travel Insurance that offering good price and services. Choose one that you think is good before making any holiday plan.
It’s very nice that man can buy insurance online. I’m just wondering how soon this will happen in my country Bulgaria…
I simply would not travel without travel insurance for me and my family. We have worked with Travel Insurance Direct in the past and are very pleased with their service.
At the end of last year I had a big trip planned for Thailand. Unfortunately I got really sick about two weeks before the flight. The sickness put off the flight for two months. Thanks to the travel insurance, I got all the ticket charges refunded. All it took was a copy of the medical notes and airline fees.
In Thailand, we were at a national park when one of my friends slipped and hurt her leg. It ended up OK and she managed to limp into a doctors office a few days after we got back to town. Now imagine if it was a serious injury and we needed to call emergency services (possibly a helicopter, since we were over three hours drive from a hospital). A simple trip to a park and riding in some tubes by a waterfall (no extreme sports or adventures) would have ended up in at least a few thousand dollars of fees.
Travel insurance on the other hand has very reasonable rates. I don’t recall the exact numbers but I was insured for full med evac and two million in fees for over three months (a bit of overkill I know) for less than a hundred a month. I extended my policy online when I extended my trip.
As Jimmy says, few minutes and the low price (especially compared to coverage in the US) are definitely worth the peace of mind.
Actually if you are going to a country like America, buy travel insurance, but if you have to go to a country where healthcare is really cheap, like UK or India, don’t do it.
yes, if you are spending huge amount then travel insurance is a good idea…
Yeah, my husband and I are planning a trip soon and it is likely that we will be purchasing travel insurance. Thanks for the reminder. We would have otherwise forgotten.
Travelers may have some situations that occurs suddenly, so I think Travel insurance is a good idea especially with an expensive travel package.
Many travel agencies now offers travel insurance. They include it on their price. You should know what are the things include to their price.
When I travel for my blog I usually don’t purchase travel insurance, but get it free. A great way to get free travel insurance is to buy your airline tickets with a credit card which will offer free travel insurance coverage just by using the credit card for travel.
I think I’ll get it done at my local insurance agency, but it’s nice to know you can do it last minute online..
Yes, Travel insurance is a must when we have plan to traveling, especially if we travel to a place that had travel warning by our government. Nice review!
Hi,
Great Insights.
I am agree with you that Travel insurance is really good for all.
you have nicely described about it.
Thanks for sharing…
Travel insurance is a must, for your possessions as a convenience, but for your health as a must. Hospital bills can be phenomenal – the last thig you want on your summer holidays is a bill for thousands because to slipped and broke your arm!
Nice information for me guys
Now I have information about travel insurance at the last minute.
i think you must try a travel in sardinia, for example a good hotel in santa margherita di pula, near cagliari.
Interesting. I am definitely not the “world traveler”, in fact I have never been outside of the United States. But my wife and I are planning a trip to Italy and I am considering getting insurance. Does anyone know an approximate cost for a 1 week trip for 2 to Italy? I honestly have no baseline expectation, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I really don’t know much about the difference among different travel insurances.
I often buy them from AIG, and which one do you prefer?
Great tips to follow! No one likes getting sick but especially not when on holiday. I think that watching what and where you eat is a biggie because many restaurants in Mexico would not have food hygiene standards to adhere to.
Agreed
Hey I purchased a travel insurance from Online Travel Insurance last year when I traveled to Australia. I purchased it online and it was a smooth transaction.
I think every travelers need travel insurance. Every time I travel, I always enjoy my trip because I know I’m fully covered with my insurance.
in switzerland we don’t need a travel insurance. we have the travel insurance include the normal insurance
that’s e very good thing. you can go travel every time
Nice articles , Man

Mae sure you check the small print. My friend booked travel insurance once and found that it did not cover him for foreign travel!
I’m one of those people that has yet had a lost or broken item when I’ve gone traveling, but you’re right, one day it will happen and I’m going to wish that I had travel insurance.
Yes,I am agree that travel insurance is very helpfull.Especially when you travel with little kids,or pregnant woman.Nice post.Good luck!
Hello,
A good and informative post. I have purchased travel insurace for 30 days a while ago and It was a bit too expensive.
Thank you for the tips!
All the best,
Jonas
Even if your package is not that expensive I would not travel anywhere without insurance. Even if you are delayed or loose baggage it can cost much more than your travel package
Travel insurance really is a must these days. Hospitals bills alone can run into thousands of pounds, and I’ve heard some horror stories about people getting stuck abroad with broken limbs. Considering you can get it for £12 a trip, it’s silly not too
Although this post is quite some time ago, but the information is just what I needed. Thanks!
For some reason, the idea of travel insurance or anything about insurance is weird. Simply because most insurance companies won’t help you when you need it. They have good lawyers to decline YOUR money when you really NEEDs it! They just know how to get what is not theirs.
Plus, you’re dead when you’re dead. Let other people handle it for you. Even if you got insurance, you’ll never be sure that you’re insured at times you need it. Why bother?
We need travel insurance to back up our self from dangerous outside.Make it faster and secure by online travel insurance.

Travel insurance. wouldn’t feel comfortable if i didn’t purchase it.
Travel insurance is a no brainer really. I cant believe that anyone would even consider traveling outside their own country without it….In fact in the UK I think it is pretty much compulsory.
I never think of travel insurance when I go away, I should probably be more thoughtful, I suppose you never know what might happen.
I always use Coris when traveling abroad.
hi, nice blog you have =)
It´s allwais a good ideia to have insurance when travel for other countrys, accidents can happen and the best is to be prepare for them.
Do you know travel insurance for uk people?
I actually used the online travel insurance recently on a golf holiday to Myrtle Beach. I’m glad I did because my clubs got “misplaced”
